The California Legislature passed Senate Bill 1 (2017) which provided funding for repair of roads and bridges throughout California because the Federal Government would not pass a Road and Infrastructure bill since 1993 when the gas excise tax was last set and at which it remains to this day. In addition, Congress would pass short or temporary funding for roads, highways and bridges which were mere stop gap measures. Many cities and states enacted their own local and county taxes to address infrastructure needs, and now the state is doing so, with many good jobs, (your neighbor may have) , to ensure we can travel to our destinations more safely. This investment is the best .12 cents citizens can pay on our fuel taxes so that we drive in less congestion, and with greater efficiency and safety. This is a common good when it’s done right in accordance with our nations laws!
